I have reached a stage and an age!!! Where I really can’t be bothered to go anywhere be it dinner parties whatever unless I really want to be there.
I just don’t have the patience to spend my time being polite diplomatic nice to people I really don’t want to be with. For the last year I have been turning down invites to events and social occasions but there were two that I did accept and enjoyed tremendously.
Last week I went as the guest of Hosni and Jenny Emam who are just simply one of the nicest couples around to the Foreign Press Association media Awards. It was a hoot. Guest of honour was Prince Charlie who gave a long and I am sure well meaning speech about the ‘deeper philosophy of life’ I think. It was, politely put rather garbled but my better half disagreed with my assessment. Compere for the evening was the fabulous witty Sandy Toksvig who really gave the proceedings a deft lightness.
It had been ages since I was out and about and it was good fun to re-connect with old friends meet new people and the winner of all the various categories actually deserved to win.
